About Sports & Wellness Innovation Challenge 2024

Through the lens of design and technology, student innovators and sports enthusiasts from across primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong will connect with academic and industry experts to shape the future of sports. From connected wearables to extended reality interfaces and AI-driven performance analytics, participating students will showcase their creativity and insights to develop ideas that rethink the way we train, compete, recover, and engage in sports.

Challenge Details

Program Timeline

Key dates of the challenge are below: 

February – Mid-March: School registration for the Competition 

April – July: Four-month Innovation Program (consists of a series of workshops, each spanning approximately 180 minutes per session, plus supplementary online materials in English. These workshops are specifically designed to explore the key stages of “Discover”, “Develop”, “Deliver” and “Pitch” respectively). Additionally, there will be an optional field visit to the Hong Kong Sports Institute, and optional prototyping clinic on 3D Modelling and/or IoT. Adding up to a total of 15 hours of learning content. 

July 17 – 19: Showcase Rehearsal at HKTDC Sports & Leisure Expo 

July 20 – 22: Booth Presentation at HKTDC Sports & Leisure Expo 
(Up to 5 teams per grade category will be selected for the Finals)

July 23: Final Round on stage at HKTDC Sports & Leisure Expo
(1-2 teams per grade category will be selected as Winners or Runner-ups)

Judging Criteria
Teams will be judged according to these four dimensions: Impact, Innovation, Implementation, Presentation
